FYI about comments

Posted on June 23, 2009 by Sara Ryan

Hey all -- Just wanted to let everyone know that if you post and you don't see any comments, it may be because we haven't had a chance to moderate the comments yet. "We" being defined as me -- I'm the library's Teen Services Specialist, and moderating the comments on this blog is one of approximately a gazillion things I do.(Moderating, for those who may not have heard the term before, is basically just checking whether the comments are spam.)

But I'm moderating them at least once a day Monday-Friday, more often if I have the chance, so you shouldn't have to wait *too* long to see comments show up. You can also check the box to be notified by email when new comments to your post show up. (And the reason we have to moderate the comments is that we were getting literally thousands of spam comments.)

Also: thanks to Keri for this great comment in response to one of the boredom-related posts:

Go ask the librarian in charge of volunteers for something to do. You can do clerical work, sort through and organize the coupon book or prize bin, roll up teeshirts, decorate the Summer Reading Desk area, and even help out by pulling holds, preparing fliers, cleaning up the magazine or children's area, etc. You are here to help out the library; it is your job to figure out how you can be useful instead of complaining of boredom.

Slow today.....

Yeah..... kinda slow today. Well, anyway I'm looking for suggestions at the moment. I've read through my shelf. I'm looking for more fictional fiction type things, straight out fantasy is fine too, and some sci-fi is ok.

It's my first day of volunteering this year. Can't expect much. I just got back from a week long trip on the East Coast. Any of you got cool trips planned for the summer?

Need Book suggestions??

Um...this is about books to read I just finished a couple...well they arent quite realistic fiction but I have some great nonrealistic books, some fictional fiction if you will. The Tithe series, The Mortal Instruments Series, Wings, Wicked Lovely, Blood and Chocolate, and for those of you who enjoy a sort of historical fiction, The Queens Soprano might be an interesting one for you or I am Rembrants Daughter is also very good. I am from the North West branch and right now is kind of slow oh well I guess I'll have to read...torture I know.
