Is been an hour and i've only had about 4 people. Yay. How busy...

Anyways, I think we should be able to go on the library website from the database. Just saying, it might make those days when no one comes just a little more interesting.

It's the first day of summer reading, I wish one of my friends would come in. At first there were people, very entertaining, now there's no one, great. So, I thought as the summer progressed less people would come, oh well, I think Summer Reading lost its popularity, oh well I still love working here and reading. We should be able to access Facebook from these computers.

Representatives from seven teen councils came to the retreat last Saturday!

One activity we did was to have each person write down an idea for something they'd like teen councils to do in the future. Here are your ideas:

• A project for middle school to high school students to give them suggestions for books that they may need for school or to help improve their reading
• Help little kids with school things like reading, math, etc.
• Tutoring kids who struggle at reading
• Book drive for kids who don't have books
  
• Mind games, more activities
• Investigating a crime but using books, like who stole a book
• We should have a summer retreat where we can make our own smoothies!
• I would like to have a carnival type of event for little kids.
• Clean up around the library and publicize the fact that we need to not litter.
• Some sort of large reading celebration at Central Library
• Outdoor activities: tag, water fights, 2 hand touch football etc.
• Go iceskating (2 people!)
  
• Go to Oaks Park
• Going on field trips
  
• Papier-maché sculptures
• Book club
• Water fight (balloons, water guns, etc.) in the park. Ice cream afterwards.
• Teen Council recruiting video or music video
• Go to Ka-Nee-Ta
• Learn more icebreakers

Hey everyone. So the Twilight Movie Party at Fairview is getting planned, but we could use some help with thinking of activities. I know there are Twilight fans out there, so if you guys can think of any games/activites/crafts that should be there, please let us know. We have time and date planned, but I don't have that information with me at the moment. =) Hope you guys will help. I also seemed to have posted this on the summer reading blog thing, and I didn't realise that. Oops.

 Twilight?  

The series was good but the movie was not so great.  When someone tries to make a movie out of a book, much less a series, it get really dull and boring.  like Eargon, they ended the movie like there is no tomorrow.  I am not trying to patronize the movie, but it was not exciting as the book.  

Mortal Engines Quartet 

this series is the best i have read since 8th grade.  it is by Philip Reeves and he is also a very good author.  the series is about a teen who lives on a city that moves.   the cities of this world eat eachother so that they can keep moving. Tom, the teen, was a apperntice that got outlawed for being with a heretic.  Read it to find out more.

We are the teen volunteers and we rock! Our daily activities consist of doing the shelving, helping people, paging list, checking in holds and more shelving. Sometime it's fun but usually bored. We keep doing one thing all over again but when we get a chance to help people, it just feel amazing.

Hi everybody, that reads this blog.  I'm just curious as to why everyone is obsessed with reading twilight.  But, first off let me say that i'm a guy.  I've tried starting this book, but I the book didn't seem interesting to me.  I was just wondering why, or what is so interesting about this series.  I know breaking a book down to black and white always doesn't seem appealing.  Like, all i know is that it's about a vampire who has like beastly strength, and, i think, likes a mortal.  I just want to know what is it about the book that makes the book so popular.  I'm not trying to upset anyone.  Just wondering.

Fairview Columbia Library will be having a Twilight party on Saturday, March 21st!!!

We will have Twilight trivia... Are you team Jacob or team Edward?!?!?!    Duct tape roses, lots of snacks, and later in the day we will be showing the movie Twilight!!!    Dress as your favorite character, or dress like you're ready for the prom!     We have other activities in the works, and we will post  more information about this event ASAP!!

Yeah, I know, we're a long way from summer. But you can take your mind off the cold by entering the 2009 Summer Reading Teen Gameboard contest! The winning illustration will be featured on the cover of the teen gameboard, and the artist will win a $50 gift certificate to Art Media! The winner and honorable mentions will also be featured in an online gallery on the library's website.
