Twilight?

Posted on Saturday February 21, 2009 by Holgate

 Twilight?

The series was good but the movie was not so great.  When someone tries to make a movie out of a book, much less a series, it get really dull and boring.  like Eargon, they ended the movie like there is no tomorrow.  I am not trying to patronize the movie, but it was not exciting as the book.

Posted on Saturday February 21, 2009 by Holgate

Mortal Engines Quartet

this series is the best i have read since 8th grade.  it is by Philip Reeves and he is also a very good author.  the series is about a teen who lives on a city that moves.   the cities of this world eat eachother so that they can keep moving. Tom, the teen, was a apperntice that got outlawed for being with a heretic.  Read it to find out more.

Holgate teen volunteers

Posted on Tuesday February 17, 2009 by Holgate

We are the teen volunteers and we rock! Our daily activities consist of doing the shelving, helping people, paging list, checking in holds and more shelving. Sometime it's fun but usually bored. We keep doing one thing all over again but when we get a chance to help people, it just feel amazing.

Twilight

Posted on Saturday February 14, 2009 by Holgate

Hi everybody, that reads this blog.  I'm just curious as to why everyone is obsessed with reading twilight.  But, first off let me say that i'm a guy.  I've tried starting this book, but I the book didn't seem interesting to me.  I was just wondering why, or what is so interesting about this series.  I know breaking a book down to black and white always doesn't seem appealing.  Like, all i know is that it's about a vampire who has like beastly strength, and, i think, likes a mortal.  I just want to know what is it about the book that makes the book so popular.  I'm not trying to upset anyone.  Just wondering.

Good Books

Posted on Monday November 24, 2008 by Fairview

Hey, I'm Ryan Booher from the Fairview teen council. Not sure why I added my last name. I'm also not sure why I started this post with 'hey'. I mean this isn't a conversation. The only people talking are me and my other personalities. =) Anyways, I've decided to post a list of my favorite books. These aren't in any order, just which ever ones come to me first. I won't tell you what happens in the books, mainly because I'd get bored of that, but I will give a short blip about why I like it.

Nick and Norah's infinite playlist, by Rachel Cohn.  This is a good, funny book, and is based around music, which I love. It does have quite a bit of bad language, and some adult type material, so if you don't like that, you may not want to read this book.

The Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan.  I'm an avid fantasy reader, so when I found this series, it was like JACKPOT!! There are 11 books written, with a 12th on the way, and the shortest book in the series is just under 700 pages. AWESOME!!! Okay, moving on.

Right Behind You, by Gail Giles.  I wrote a book report that was posted on the blog, so hopefully that will be enough explanation.

Gregor the Overlander, by Suzanne Collins. This is the first in a series. These are short, fun books to read. They are for younger kids (I think) but I still like them.

Thirteen Reasons Why, by Jay Asher. This book is kinda depressing, but it is one of the best books I've read. I think that everyone should read this book.

The Red Glass, by Laura Resau. I don't really like this book, but it is very good. I know that sounds strange, but just because I don't like a book, doesn't mean I can't recognize when a book is good.

Alex Rider, by Anthony Horowitz. This book is about a teenage spy, and lets face it, who of us hasn't imagined being a spy. Well. . . I haven't, but you get my point. These books are funny, exciting, and good to read if your bored.

Ravens Gate, Evil Star, and Nightrise, by Anthony Horowitz. Another series by Horowitz. These books are funny, exciting, and good to read if your bored. =) I just copied and pasted that.

Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr, by Christoper Paolini.  I like these books. Plain and simple.

Maximum Ride, by James Patterson. These books are about flying kids, which I think is really awesome. To make it even better, they have super powers.

City of Bones, City of Ashes, by Cassandra Clare. Twilight fans may like these books. May, may, I said. I'm not going to swear to that. Its not based purely around vampires, but around alot of otherworldly type things.

So there is my list. I'll probably think of some more books right after I submit this. If you have some books you think I should add, or read, please let me know. And I know I said I wasn't going to tell you what these books were about and I ended up doing that a few times, but oh well.

 Colleen's Input:

Another wonderful meeting.  I *heart* book-talk-a-palooza meetings.  We had 19 suggestions this meeting, so we narrowed it to 8, then down to 4.  So the results are in!

November: The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson

December: Hero by Perry Moore

January: The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Fowler

 February: Blindness by Sara Mago

Come join us for food, fun, and books (sort of...)!  Sometimes we watch movies too!  YAY!

Although I have only read the first two, I am working on finishing the series, since I own ALL the books!!! And yes you probably guessed it, my favorite character is Edward!!! YEAH BABY!!!! oh, and yea TEAM EDWARD ALL THE WAY MAN!!!!!!!! Yeah it kind of stinks because one of my best friends is on Team Jacob, it's crazy! oh, and I almost cried when Edward left Bella!!! *tear* Well let us move on to my next obsession!!! Btw...
