HSASH ( Help Shelter Animals Stay Happy )
Posted on Wednesday January 09, 2008 by Arianne Christine Melton
HSASH is a program that I run with the help of my family and my friend Cassie. I started last year when I was at elementary school (Hollydale) . This year since Cassie and I are on the teen council at Gresham Branch we added a drive drop off in the Gresham Library's lobby. We also had a drop at Hollydale run by the Vice President, my brother. Our drive ran from November 14- December 20. As you see it recently ended.
On December 22 we brought in our donations to the Multnomah County Animal Shelter. We ended up having 131 items from Hollydale, and 206 items from the library. When we got there they were thrilled from the large donation. It took three shopping carts to bring it into the building. The last shopping cart, which was all cans, took three people to push it in.
We happily trippled last years earnings , and next year we hope to do even better. We enjoy helping the stray animals, and knowing they will eat better for a long time on our acount. Thank you to anyone who contributed, we could not do it without you.
